“Your item is being processed by United States Customs.”

The item is the box of Eve figurines. I was hoping the box will be in my hands by now and ready for Otakon.

I really hope I get the box at least by the end of Friday. If not, I’m going to be really really sad.

Customs processes everything, it has nothing to do with the figurines.

All they do is leave the package laying around in a warehouse somewhere long enough for anything perishable to perish, then they send it on. I am quite sure they don’t check what is in the packages, or if they do they are totally clueless about what things are and what we’re supposed to pay customs on.

This day and terrorist age, I’m sure they do some sort of scanning via xray or sniffing for explosives probably conveyor belt style.

Hell, for Hawk’s name alone, I’m sure the damn thing went through processing twice. ;P

ahhh, customs. I remember they held a box of Ram that was being shipped to me from California. For 2 months. Then of course it took them a week to find it and release it after I called them. Canadian customs held an air conditioner bound for me as well. When I got it 2.5 weeks later it had been opened, the packaging nearly destroyed and unit scratched.

Naturally, there was nothing “they” could do about it. I sure hope they get to you in time for Otakon, and if I do get the chance to order one it too doesn’t get the same treatment as my air conditioner!

IT went down like this..

-Mr President we have a box of figures of some girl named EVE

-Figures you say? Eve… hmm thats the applegeeks limited addition figure. Why I smell terror type plots!!!

-What should we do?

-We better look into this further by taking them all out fo the boxes and displaying them all over the oval desk.. I’ll be by later to play with my eve army…err.. I mean examine the evidence personally.

_Yes sir MR PRESIDENT..

** =) I’m pretty sure thats what happened anyways.

You may be able to get them quicker by finding out where your local customs office and request faster processing. If
You let them look inside the box and actually see that they`re just a bunch of Figures ( to the naked eye ;P ) they might be reasonable enough to release them. Or they might just be asses about it, but oe can hope.

PS: I work in shipping, Feel free to mention my name, but i dont think it will help at all. You should also try using a postal center ( cuase we rock ) we can ship any carrier international and even box everything for you, we can recive packages, faxes, yeah, we`re that good.

If you don’t get them in time for the con, you should sue the airline for hurting your profit with slow processing :P

Comment by Monochrome

Uh, nope, you shouldn’t.

The airlines have nothing to do with customs – Customs is an arm of the government, and they basically have complete authority over who and what comes into the country.

Pain in the arse to deal with, and you can’t claim make any claims for losses against them. Well, you can try, but you’ll never get anywhere.

Personally, U.S. customs have a very skewed way of thinking when it comes to screening packages – they actually let firearms through while going nuts over consumer packaging.

I sent some swords to my friend in Germany… xD Called them “wall decorations”. She got them super fast.

Possibly because she’s an army girl. Have any friends stationed anywhere near you?

Man, I totally sympathise. Customs are the bane of my existence in my line of work. For the record, Canadian customs are by far the worst I’ve ever had to deal with (shipment delayed, a packing crate ripped apart, a 19″ TFT screen gouged and worst of all, we couldn’t complain). The US isn’t bad in comparison, but then that’s not saying much.

I hope Eve makes it on time. Heh I got it. Just tell them your a major corporation and the box of Eves are all on the guest worker program from Mexico. Bush would drop everything to mobilise his own people to get them to you and you’ll have them in under an hour. :P
