I just got back from watching the Transformers movie. I thought the movie was pretty cool, it had a lot of cool action scenes. However, at the end of the movie, I sat there wishing they had more Optimus Prime. So I’m a bit disappointed about that.

Alright, I’m going to eat dinner and work on the comic.

Edit: Coloring is done, adding text…

I liked it, myself. It did the cheese so very, very well. I laughed at like everything, it was remarkably well done, I feel.

The lead actress, meghan something or other I think her name is… Has stubby thumbs. anyone else notice this? they’re like, stubby.

you better work on the comic… and bend to the whim of hordes of people who dont ACTUALLY know you, certainly don’t pay you, yet still demand you perform for them…

dude you sound like a jerk the way you typed that, even if you didn’t mean to. sometimes people cant help making others feel good, especially when you talk like that to them. it makes others around you feel unappreciated.

couldn’t resist a transformers post! watching the movie was like watching someone’s childhood imagination come to life. It was cute and fun but generally fluff. I was sad that Jazz bit it and that Optimus had lips but on the other hand… she was hot, Sam didn’t suck and they were giant robots who kicked ass!

ps. I’m always pleased at your regularity of posting comics versus megatokyo. keep up the good work!

he had his regular face in battle, if you pay attention. it’s like a mouth guard or something. i don’t get it, but it was still there.

I think that they worked up the right mix of Optimus Prime actually. If Prime was in it all the time, it would have taken away the focus from the other autobots.

Also this way it helps set it up for a sequel.

SPOILERS

I liked the movie too although there were many flaws. The last 20 minutes was a jumble of bad camera work, and it was hard to distinguish between good guys and bad guys. Megatron was a pretty week bad guy – he appears in the last half hour and gets taken out pretty quick.

There were also a number of plot holes – take, for instance, the cube itself. They need to get it away from Megatron so they carry it… to a populated city? WTF? And the Autobots went along with this? Then, the minute they get to the city, the goal is to… get the cube away from the city? Then why take it there to begin with?

There were also too many characters. The blonde bimbo hacker and her friend were an entirely unnecessary plot point. And what is with movies and their uber hackers? Die Hard had this too. Someone just HAPPENS to know the ONE GUY in the ENTIRE WORLD who can hack an alien lifeform’s language and save the world. Um, Independence Day, anyone?

But I liked it.

errmmm… if I remembered correctly… they needed to move the cube to the city so that they could find a transmitter to bring military jets over to carry the cube out…

I may be the only one who liked the complex action scenes. Considering that this movie focuses more on the human viewpoint of the Autobot/Decepticon war. Thus, the fast pace and zoomed in camerawork captures the chaos that having several-story robots battling in a mass free-for-all around you would have.

One complaint (!!!spoilers maybe!!!): how can high-hear sulfur rounds damage transformers that are capable of entering through the atmosphere? Atmospheric reentry is far more heat than any sulfur round can create. Only reason I mention this complaint is because I feel the Transformers were relatively underpowered, considering their nature.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT
Anyone else notice that Starscream destroyed all the F-22s at the final battle? First, F-22s don’t come outfitted with air-to-ground missiles. Second, if Starscream destroyed the F-22s, what shot Megatron at the end? Anyone else think those missiles that nailed Megatron were fired by Starscream??? This fits nicely with his nature and the scene in the credits.
SOILER WARNING ENDED

Yea I noticed that too near the end where Starscream merged with the F-22s and shoot at Megatron. My friend and I got into a big argument about it. I thought the movie was good, but they should of given all the transformers more lines instead of like 2 lines to each one.

Well, perhaps just the forms that they took upon re-entry were resistant. But once they shed that outer form, THAT was vulnerable. I Dunno. Good flick thou.

*already covered spoiler*
hmm so that would have meant the Starscream would have burnt up when he left the atmosphere? :P

he didn’t destroy them all. He also took a couple hits himself. But if you remember the character, Starscream is only loyal to himself. He fawns of Megatron but plots to oversthrow him in basically any series he’s ever appeared in. (Transformers/Beast Wars)

Exactly, which is why I found it even more credible that those missiles would come from Starscream. Like I said, F-22s don’t come armed with air-to-ground missiles, they’re an air-supremacy aircraft. But, being a transformer, even though Starscream appeared to be a F-22, he could easily be armed with other weaponry outside the F-22s specs, as all the other transformers were. It’s just an interesting idea to toy with.

At the end of the movie, I sat there disturbed by the protagonist and his girlfriend making out on top of an autobot while other autobots wathced. That was extremely creepy >.

I was thinking the same thing. I was sort of half expecting one of the other autobots to tell them to get a room.

Well, the way I look at it…Bumblebee was instrumental in picking Mikaela up. She looked under his hood, talked about how hot his engine was, and then he started up to get her back home. Bumblebee changed for her when she didn’t like his look. When things really got ugly, Spike left Bumblebee alone and Mikaela went out of her way to rescue him. At the end Bumblebee says he wants to stay with teh boy…but did he mean boy? My conclusion is that Bumblebee is scamming on Spike’s girl. Too bad it’ll never work out.

“I sat there wishing they had more Optimus Prime..”, You mean you wish there was a lot more of Jazz, since he was the most kickass autobot in the whole movie!

well technically by the end there was a lot more of jazz (rim-shot!). I have to say, the Optimus/Bonecrusher fight was awesome, in fact it was probably the most satisfying fight the whole movie

People cheered when

*spoiler*

Optimus snapped out that sword. I got a laugh from people in my row when I blurted “My optimus toy doesn’t have THAT!”

on the plus side, in a few episodes of G1 he had an orange energy axe so as soon as I saw him whip out that orange sword I gasped “he actually watched the show?!”. In the same episode Megatron fights him with his energy morningstar so I loved it when he used that to blow through the statues on top of the building.

I’d have to say, it was really well done. A little cheesy at times, but all in all, I approve.
