It’s about time a news castor refused to do it. Kudos to her. She ought to get some fan mail, if it was up to me.
The worst part of this is that, despite her public refusal to do the story during the first news break, her producers keep putting it back on the prompter every hour to pressure her into covering it (you can see that at every cut in the clip, the time moves forward an hour). They don’t care that she has principles, they just want her to cover whatever they think will get ratings.

I agree w/ the host that celebrity news doesn’t belong as a lead story when there’s better things to report about to the general populace. They just wanted to put it as a lead story to raise the show’s ratings….asses. The co-hosts were doing it just to piss her off too. I hope she decked ‘em or something after the cameras were off.
I assume the cohosts were doing it because it’s THEIR JOB. I think they wanted to keep their jobs. I imagine they did it like they did to try and get it off the screen, so they could move on. I’m sure they agreed but weren’t willing to take that kind of risk.

This Paris Hilton “story” is right up there with the Michael Jackson story, and the OJ Simpson story both of which managed to gobble up years of actual news space. Like honestly who cares? I 1/2 wonder if people watch this stuff because they’re shocked that celebrities are people as well and are as dumb (if not dumber) than the rest of societies dregs.
