“Transformers Animated”
The new series will premiere in 2008 on Cartoon Network.
I’m looking at the artwork but something about it doesn’t seem right…something is missing.

its got too much of an Anime style to the drawing that and the bots look out of proportion

The cell shaded type thing doesn’t really work for transformers. Too simplistic and corny. They’ve always had a certain dignity that’s missing from these designs.

Seriously, character design bah-lowz! Prime looks like Frankenstein, Jr.; everthing has that > mid-60’s to early 70’s Hanna-Barbara look. Where’s Speed Buggy?
Now that my eyes are bleeding from another Cartoon Network Abomination…Please, Hawk, pretty please with chocolate and iPhones on top, draw us a badass Prime and restore balance to the multiverse!

wtf people…seriously…why do people have to remake something and totally ruin it. first it was the ninja turtles remake, then THE BATMAN! (which sucked massive monkey balls), and now this?! its like…they’re ROBOTS!!! the metal doesnt change while they transform it just moves around…notice the optimus prime before and after transformation…the cab of the truck friggin SHRINKS at the bottom and GROWS at the top! and the armored vehicle guy is like 5 times the size of his car…gawd wtf are they thinking!!!
reminds me of a 3d thing mindchamber did… although im pretty shure metal doesnt bend on it’s own.
my only hope is that it takes the place of “krypto”… if this is going to drag toonami farther down… we’re all doomed!

Finally, an animated series based on the Transformers. I’ve been waiting all my life for them to make an animated show about the Transformers. You would think someone would of thought of this before! /sarcasm
IMHO i think prime has a bit of a chuck norris jawline going on here. He practically look like he has a rugged beard.
My first reaction was, “What the Hell?!?!!” I know everybody has their own art style and I respect that. This style, for transformers, is insulting to me. Maybe its just not a good promo splash, but I am totally underwhelmed by what I’m seeing. In the history of Transformers, Television, movies, comics; one thing has been certain. They, looked like ROBOTS. I mean come, the hell, ON! What I’m seeing here looks cheesy as hell. Maybe I’m comming at it from the wrong perspective. It IS supposed to be a kids show on a children’s network. If this is what the executives at Warner Brothers feel the transformers should look like for the next generation. . . I weep for the next generation.
I love how even the poster itself has to bend the robot’s design to make it turn into a truck. There’s no real correlation between the two forms, proportionally.

Why not just call them Go-Bots and be done with it?
looking at Primes torso, if he did transform into a truck, he’d be a little unbalanced. (i mean fire truck? thats not very prime)
Great now Cartoon Network goes on the “People to kill over Transformers” list too… Blasted thing is getting long. Killing this many people without getting caught can’t be easy either.

Uh… Is it just me or does Optimus Prime… look sort of gay? PUMPED shoulders and tiny little waist. MAYBE it’s the whole perspective thing… but really. ugh. Way to murder MORE people’s childhoods.
To be honest, I am worried about the new Transformer series as well as the Spider-Man one. I remember watching the first episode of “The Batman”, being so excited about the new series. Only to say, “This is crap!” by the end.
This is something animators would want to bring to the new generation who are unfamiliar with Transformers. The art is rather cheezy and brings somewhat a frown upon those who grew up around it. I don’t mind at all and I don’t plan to watch it anyway. As long as we remember how it originally looked, nothing could ever change it…except the seizure blinking lights, lazer beams, and whatnots. But if it was licensed under 4Bratz(name changed for certain reasons), then all hell would break loose.
If that big green guy is named Ironhide, I’ll scream. Seriously. Why must all modern (North American) animated series either be done in CG or craptastically surreal designs? The whole reason the original Transformers series was so cool was because you could look at them and believe that it could be possible. They at least looked plausible.
Oh, and Hawk, I think you need to slap some star-spangled shorts on the yellow one (Bumblebee, I presume) to complete the JLA-ness.
I found this image just now after doing a google image search looking for some other Transformer image. I watched the premiere on CN today, and I was thinking Optimus Prime’s face(without the face guard) totally looks like he was based off of Superman/Clark Kent from Superman:TAS. So finding this image really, really amused me. lol
