Hey gang,

Does anyone actually own a 2005 Impala? If so you might be able to help me! You could jump on over to here to see if you can’t resolve my cd issues.

Thanks!

Did you burn it as a data cd or a music cd? (i dont use iTunes to burn cds, so forgive my ignorance)

I don’t use iTunes to burn my CD’s, but at what speed did you burn them? Perhaps burning them at a lower speed, 8X-, might do it. Most newer cars’ CD players should handle 12X+ but this one may be an exception.

Odds are that you’ll have to burn them as Audio CDs instead of MP3s. Even though you can now get iPod compatable stereos in GM cars, the disc players are still a bit behind the times (just like the rest of the american automotive industry).

I used iTunes to burn them at whatever speed iTunes chooses. They were audio cds, not mp3 cds.

I had the same problem awhile back. It seems that some cheeper or older cd’s sometimes don’t work becuase of that fact. But also tring draging and dropig the music files out of Itunes on to your desktop and then just drag them as files.

Have you tried the discs in any other CD players? Just to be sure it’s not the discs.
It’s been quite a while since I burned any CDs from iTunes, but I seem to recal that it defaults to “Maximum” burn speed, and that that can cause problems. So you might try Neuro’s suegestion of setting the burn speed to a lower setting.

or you could try finalizing the CD and closing the session when you burn a CD. alot of cd decks cannot read burnt CDs if they are not finalized. For some reason they need to read the EOF tag or whatever it is.

‘05 Impala…gone through 5 of them. (I’m a fleet manager.) I’ve never tried a burned cd-r in one of them, but I’ve had a banged-up factory pressing fail to play. Most likely reason: not the highest quality CD player in the vehicle.

Aside from that, I’ve had exactly Zero mechanical problems with ‘05 Impalas, or their Pontiac cousin the G6. I love `em, and I’m getting ready to buy more.

So, I’m curious. Did you ever find an answer to this problem?

No not yet Tachi, I’m headed home today with a few test burns to see how things go. I’m keeping my site updated with details.

The coolest way to fix this problem would be to just get a new after-market cd-player, look for the features that you want.

http://www.crutchfeld.com great outfitter.
