My brother pointed me in the direction of this thread … you can read the following to get an idea of it:

This summer, instead of taking classes or getting a job like other college students typically do, Michal Brichacek has decided to do something radically different. He has decided instead to ride a bicycle from Anchorage, Alaska to Panama City, Panama in order to raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. He plans on covering a distance of over 12,000 km in 120 days and plans on raising $1 for every kilometer he covers. Currently in the city of Prince George, British Columbia, he has already covered 2,800 km. You can check out daily journal updates and photos on his website at www.CyclingForACause.com. Make a donation, help him reach his goal!

It’s a good cause, so if you feel that you can make a donation, certainly do so!

Have a good week, everyone!

Wow. Just wow. I’m a road-bike rider myself, but nothing on that scale. I’ve done 100 mile rides, and I’ve done 2-day 180 mile rides, but then I recovered for a week. This guy has to get back on the bike day after day. I’m impressed.

Agreed, I know what you mean I’m not much of a rider but I do some thirty to forty mile rides to train for my cross-country running. This guy is hardcore.

Thta is freaking insane. Good for him. I know a bunch of people that are coming up from Austin, Texas and biking to Anchorage, Alaska, and they are doing it to raise money for cancer. I think their goal is like $350,000. To see more on this, go to texas4000.com.

A friend of mine is doing something similar right now. He is riding from Oceanside, CA to Ocean City, NJ for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). Check out Ride for Strength for more information.

Man, it reminds me that he will have a really good story to look back over in some part of his life, the experience of it would be amazing! reminds me of my idea to go to europe and go backpacking in europe, and just hop on a train and go to another city that sounds pretty cool just by looking at the name, and just going from city to city once im bored with one… i move on! haha would be great!

I love the Idea, but, Lance Armstrong while an amazing story is one of the largest, how to put this, jerks ever to grace the biking community, he basically removed any and all competition through creative slander and a phony test which has still yet to have accuracy over 35%. You’d be better off supporting something like, the Dana-farber Institute for Cancer research.
