What the RIAA is absolutely unacceptable. I really doubt they'll actually be able to go through with this (You can't control the INTERNETS!!1!), but it's just another step towards their eventual deconstruction. They are outdated and unneeeded, and, like any other desperate creature, they will persistently fight against their inevitable doom until the day they die.

The RIAA, while a good concept in, perhaps, wolfman jacks era.. are useless now in the information age. The concept that you cannot stop the signal, is very true.. and they won't acknowledge it. I think people hate the RIAA more then they ever loathed the IRS.

someone posted the Idea that this would be an ex post facto law(after the fact) and that such laws are unconstitutional, this idea intrigues me, if it's true it's a nice thing for anyone wanting to listen, however, I'm not sure how well the RIAA's lawyers could play it off as not being such. the retroactive paygrade thing does make sense though.

I signed the petition but I think it will be a useless gesture. I'm fairly certain that, if the RIAA weren't as cut off from the public as it is, the petition wouldn't be necessary in the first place. (I only occasionally listen to GamingFM and I have a Yahoo Music Station that I rarely listen to so I'm not really representative of the people who would be hit by this.)

I don't listen to internet radio, but I know stupid when I see it and this is big time stupid. They're only going to end up costing themselves profits in the long run because there won't be anyone willing to pay their prices. It's like upping the cost of a bottle of Coke from $1 to $5. Sure, you might still sell a couple to people who're desperate enough, but selling twenty bottles for $1 beats selling two for $5. What kind of idiots run the RIAA?

Well, blargh.

I'd heard about this from the good folks at Pandora. It's a pity, as none of the local stations carry anything I listen to on a regular basis. I wish I could be of more assistance, but I'll do what I can. (I doubt Terry would support any changes to said bill, but I've been wrong before.)

That really sucks, even though i have no clue how to find a good station, i barely have any good local ones. There are 2 music stations i listen to. But they both suck pretty much...
If anyone knows a good techno (like prodigy) or nerdcore (mcChris, Frontalot) station please email me! (while i can still listen)
