Sorry guys, the Thursday comic is going to be late. I think Hawk is assembling a splash image, but I was unable to write the script - some pressing personal business came up last night. Sorry! Back on track by the end of today, promise.

On a sidenote … you guys enjoying the Alice/Ashley storyline?

I am loving the storyline. I was wondering when you were going to bring back Ashley! Where did she get all those Nerf darts?
By the way, A thousand crows is awesome. I am trying to get some stories built up to do the same thing. Any pointers? I am also trying to get a collaborative writing webpage together at writerz.pbwiki.com, if you want to check it out.

I like all the storylines.

Besides, a light hearted sub-plot about a insane child genius terrorizing her babysitter breaks up the darker material nicely.

Don’t you agree, Mistah Bear.

That is definitely some some awesome work on a thousand crows is absolutely incredible. She’s becoming an equal evil version of Hawk with the secret room and gadgets galore. I’m shocked she’s not carrying a “MacBear” that can actually talk back. That would be interesting. Always great work, and I’ll continue to tune in everyday.

“AI”-esque SuperBear?
Apple would roll that out in a heartbeat once the tech comes up to speed in real life. For the sake of the comic Mistah Bear would either run Ubuntu or Vista :D just because it will cause controversy

I love this issue. I had a crazy vision while reading thru the last few issues. I saw in my vision that Mistah Bear will be given life thru robotics and as opposed to Eve’s Mac OS, Mistah Bear will be running windows. Then he will occasionally blue screen and have to be rebooted.

Ok enough of my crazyness. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I like the “spinoff” stories. They helps to build up the background story, and I think that’s rather important to do in a while when writing a so immense story as you are doing. And just in general I love your stories, large’n small! But I must add that i find the story about Gina more interesting. Keep up the good work! Cheers from the rather cold Denmark.

I think what he was trying to say was the art on this page had a slightly different style than that of previous pages. I think so too, but I liked it. Then he attempted to say that you should practice dynamic posing and angles for fight scenes, because they aren’t quite up to snuff. I think his judgement here is almost as off as his grammar. (Isn’t that right, Mistah bear?)I think the scene looked great, quite dynamic and the closeups looked cool. There wasn’t much in the way of backgrounds though, but I don’t think there needed to be. :P I’m looking forward to see the babysitter kick so mini-tyrant butt.

I think the Alice/Ashley storyline is alright, but it’s not the strongest you’ve got going. The storyline with Gina was brilliant (genius writing, great artwork, everything), and I’d love to see more with Jayce - the first comic of the ‘Exodus’ serious was hauntingly beautiful.

I don’t know… this feels like it’s the weakest of the arcs because it doesn’t fit the sort of dramatic feel the others have.

AG makes my brain smile. It’s worth both the throbbing pain and the metaphysical impossibilities. It’s good that you realize that any word can be verbed. And that the verbed word can then be re-nouned. Amazling! What’s Hawk’s girlfriend doing? I’m concerned.

Ok…How do I put it… First of all I would like to say that you guys are awesome. Second of all, I think you guys are getting side tracked from the real major storyline. It’s NOT a complete waste of time, because you guys are giving us more action stuff and I like action stuff. To me, stories are pieces of a puzzle. You continue on until every piece fits right in and connects with one another. Now, you guys are scattering the pieces, but I hope you guys will end up putting it together. Whatever you do and whatever happens, I’ll always adore AppleGeeks, because it’s one of the awesomest comics that I have ever read :), but I’m still young :P

Comment by Mike
2006-10-26 09:56:13

Mmhmm, but a little sidetracking is nice at times. I think Ananth is trying to touch base with all of the characters (maybe a Josie storyline next?) to re familiarize himself and Hawk, and throw in some foreshadowing, or somethin’. P

Comment by Matt
2006-10-26 10:10:42

that and we haven’t seen the end of the arc - if it just happens with no links to the rest then I’ll agree that it was more “amusing filler” than main story progression - not always bad to have a break though, makes the dramtic points more vivid and memorable

I’m gonna be a rebel and ask for more Hawk/Eve storyline and less…Other Characters storylines. I enjoy Ashley and Gina and Mistah Beah just as much as the next AG fan, but the suspense of what happened to Hawk and Eve is KILLING ME!

Comment by Dennis
2006-10-27 14:19:11

I dunno… I think popping in and viewing the impact on the other characters’ lives adds to the suspense and drama. In addition, the way Hawk and Eve were handled allows a nice gap of time for Hawk and Eve to get back up to strength without requiring tedious work on, “oh I’ll get odd jobs to make money to buy parts.”

P.S. I like the art style. It’s very dynamic, adjusting to the tone of each individual storyline while still maintaining a definite “Hawk-ness” to the art. Also, I liked the use of the fake tilt-shift in panel 5 of issue 312.

I’ve always loved Ashley, and I love the idea of poor Alice being stuck babysitting her. I think this will be an amusing storyline.

I do think that building up what everyone has been doing since the Tokyo Incident (insert corny, Dragnet-esque music) is important. The Gina storyline was very interesting and I hope you guys keep that one going, and I’d like to know more about what Jace is doing.

I don’t want to criticize, but I do think that the suspense that had been building is kind of lost with the Ashley story. I’m sure when you switch to a more serious segment of the story it will come back with a vengeance, and I may even appreciate the break in the suspense. We are right in the middle of the story so I feel uncomfortable making judgements but I wanted to be honest.

You guys are both doing awesome work and I know for damn sure I’m going to follow this comic all the way til the end, I’m took hooked to do anything else.

I’m liking the relaxed fit of the current storyline; we know that all our main people are alive, and the shock of the explosion is finally wearing off. A nice, light-hearted war is just what we needed, and the art is nice and vibrant to match.

Following all the really heavy strips, the Alice/Ashley arc is definitely a nice change of pace. After realizing it’s been 6 months since the Toyko incident, I’m curious to see how Alice and Jayce’s relationship has changed, after his return since he doesn’t quite seem to be the same.

I’ve read every one of your guys’ comics, and I have to say - I think this arc would have been great back when almost all the strips were self-contained, or even when you were first building the Eve metaplot, but now it’s just too anticlimactic to spend so much time with a six-year old and her nerf war when it seemed that with Applegeeks 3.0 you were going to strike a really serious tone.

That’s my opinion. I still love it and I’ll keep reading, but I am a little disappointed that it’s “same-old, same-old” rather than the bold new departure I felt you were in the process of making

I don’t think a continuous storyline can be described in the same terms a book is. The continuous story must have peaks and valleys, it must move around a little. Like the continuous ocean surf rather than a single transversal of the rockies. IMHO here is an enjoyable valley with which to wet our whistle.

I see a bit of similarity to Calvin and Hobbes, but enough originality that I can honestly say it has a whole new feel to it for me.

Thanks for sharing your work with us guys!
