YAY! The return of…Hawk?
In other news, Ananth Panagariya announced later today that he has indeed been named CEO of Threadless, an online shirt retailer that allows visitors to vote on their favorite designs for production. When asked about the announcement, Ananth answered, “What? Like you didn’t know already!”

Finally some Hawk! But isn´t Eve suppose to be able to speak japanese? Im pretty sure I saw her talking with Ping in a previous comic..

Eve is able to speak Japanese to Ping at an AAA meeting (Angry Automatons Anonymous).
Maybe the parts Hawk is looking for are for Ping ElectroFist* upgrade.
* Is there a canonical name for that?
Technically this strip doesn’t say she can’t speak Japanese… it says she’s “quiet” and *Hawk* can’t speak Japanese. Might be part of what he needs parts to repair?
I think it’s clear enough that Eve can speak Japanese; she’s just not able/willing to talk; that’s why they specify that Hawk is the one that can’t speak Japanese.
One of the rules of character design is that a good design is one that can be recognize by just looking at its silhouette. One quick look at the last panel was all I needed to know that was Hawk :)

I’ve always waited anxiously for the next strip to come out. This is something else. Really top notch that both of you are doing. The evolution of this comic has just been tremendous. I’ve always loved it but lately you’ve been on your A game. Great stuff.
I don’t care what anybody says about how Applegeeks is no longer a “Joke a Day” comic because you guys are creating an awesome story line. Keep up the good work!
I’m going to say that this, like MT, is starting to be less *comic* in the natural sense of “having to be funny every day”, but rather a *manga*. Which is a good thing. :)

what does “ano…” mean?
umm…
No really, that’s basically what “ano…” means :P
“ano…” can have a lot of meanings… most used usage (:P) is to start a sentence. Japanese are quite polite, you know– having to gather people’s attention before speaking. This is a phrase that serves that purpose.
Damn, you guys have me on the edge of my seat, this comic more than ever, I love the second square of the third strip. It is really great that your storyline and art are both top notch and play together so well. I know it kinda sucks that some people are naggy and rude and complain abotu things you guys do, but do not let it get you down, this strip is

Yes … I was wondering what became of the squirrel after his vacation …. oh you meant Hawk from the main strip? Naw I’m just jokin’. Its good to see all the characters return in both strips. How long until Hawk-lite or Hawk build a machine that allows them to meet one another? Assuming of course that one strip is an alt universe of the other. I know I thought way too hard about that….
I must say, i loved this comic before it had the more complex story and seriousness going on… But i love it tens times better now! You guys are running a absolute beauty here.
