Dude I hate to say this, but under "crackpot" newspaper I htink you should list the following: The Sun (the most prejudiced and two-faced papaer on the planet, I believe), The Star and The Sport.
The Daily Mail is a cross between a tabloid and a broadsheet. It uses a tone which all can understand, yet comments on things that you would find in more sophisticated newspapers (say, The Guardian, The Independent and The Times). The Daily Mail is a borderline paper...not a bullshitting one.

I am from a middle to working class family, but it doesn't necessarily mean that I promote fascism and racism, does it (as you can probably see from my previous comments)? True my father reads that paper, I myself read the Independent, but I wouldn't say that the Mail is *that* bad, certainly not bad enough to call it a "rag".

Ananth man, you managed to find an article from the UK's most crackpot newspaper. The Daily Mail is as bad as the National Enquirer, except the Daily Mail promotes racism, facism, etc and attempts to cause the most undue worry to its readers.

It famously supported the Nazi Party and still today is against anything or one that is white middle classed and English.

It is a horrible rag.

You'd be better off, for content, reading the English tabloids than that.

For reference I personally read the Daily Telegraph, but in general all the British broadsheets (The Independent, The Guardian and even The Times) are fairly readable. If you want I can send you a selection of rags from the same day so you can see the difference in the way they report, just drop me an e-mail and I'm more than happy to.

Sorry for the rant, but I kinda wanted to put that article into context, and I'm here regularly enough to know you're well read.

Anath -- I understand your reaction to the events in the article and I wholeheartedly agree.
Due to lack of a visible Muslim population where I live (Texas) I was wondering if you had any ideas for the rest of us that we could do to show solidarity with our fellow Americans? No one should be judged on the basis of their skin or presumed heritage. I know the Muslim community has taken a strong stance condemning the so-called "jihadists" and extremeists. I wish there was some way that I could show my understanding and acknowledgement of that. Ideas?

This is beyond screwed up. What's even sadder than the passengers reactions is the fact that the airline obliged them and removed two men simply because of their appearance. I live in a very relegiously conservative area myself, and I've experienced things similar to this, if not quite on this absurd level. Being a goth in the bible belt is not a great way to be accepted, although it is fun to go to church all goth'ed out (yes, I do attend church)

Seems like the UK isn't the only country guilty of the "Knee Jerk" reaction. Any government which is involved in the "War against Terrorism" feeds enough info to the general populace to create this sort of situation.

A point said by my sister (age 12) is that a terror panic is almost as good for the terrorists as an actual attack. I could walk up the street, use a public phone box, and shut down a major airport.

Right now, there is still much increased security at airports. Would anyone be trying to do something like a bombing so soon after an alert?
