I use Toughbook and Itronix Gobooks at work. I have used my GoBook as a handhold while driving, I have set taco bell on it, I have spilled drinks on it... And it still works.

Oh, and it works using Gentoo Linux.

I love my armored laptops. It means that I don't have them going out of service.

I have a 6 year old Win98 SE laptop made by a small company called Highlander. So far its been kicked by cattle, droppedhad stuff dropped on it and it still works just as good as the day we bought it. Personally I wouldn't be against giving a monitor a slight tap, as waving a few hundred times per day would hurt the wrist.

#1 Microsoft doesn't make laptop's Dell/gateway/IBM and such do.
#2 I guess you have never seen a Panasonic Toughbook
http://www.panasonic.com/business/toughbook/home.asp

I have messed with some of the older ones, thrown them into a wall, stood on top of a pile of them, beat my fist on the back of the screen. No damage at all, screen doesn't crack nothin!

And you don't have to have Microsoft software on them either, can always go for Linux.

I would love to see you try that kind of abuse with what ever apple laptop you have :)

I love shadow book, when I first got my MBP 17" it was the first thing I installed along with and . So now I which between Windows and OS X with a wave off the hand, this has been extremely helpful for my work (sys-admin at LMCO) allowing me to continue to use apps that only run on windows while not having to dual-boot.

Parallels plans to add in versions to come which will hopefully remove the need for dual-boot all together.
