I’m still recovering from whatever con plague was floating around this weekend, so this report might be disjointed and largely full of holes. BUT … here goes!
Our travel party included Shannon (this is what she thinks of flying),
Katy (cosplaying as Grench from Dominic Deegan),
Hawk, and myself (I’m behind the camera >.> ).
We ran into a lot of old friends this weekend,
Briafed
ewrt454hin Clevinger – 8Bit Theater (Nuklear Power)
Mookie – Dominic Deegan
Ian, Jes, Matt – Machall
Yuko – Fallen
Brian Carroll – Instant Classic
Trish and Damien – Novablade Studios
Shawn Handyside – Staccato
Scott Ramsoomair – VGCats
Dave Cheung and Jamal Joseph Jr.
Dave Lister – Paradox Lost
Beth – Rice Bubbles
Garth and Larom – Comedity
Dan Kim – Clone Army
We also met these guys for the first time,
Gregg and Liz Dean – Real Life Comics
Hawk got a chance to talk to some people that I didn’t have an opportunity to speak to (my brain was fried by Saturday afternoon),
Jennie Breeden – The Devil’s Panties
Jeph Jacques – Questionable Content
Jen Brazas of Mystic Revolution
And there were also a lot of people who I’d wanted to catch up with and just missed the opportunity … hopefully next year, or on the intarwebs (drop me your screenname?),
Liz Greenfield – Stuff Sucks
Queenie – Bizenghast
Tim Buckley, Woody, Josh Mirman also stopped by and talked to us! I didn’t get to talk to Tim or Josh for very long (we’ll catch up on the intarwebs), but Woody hung around and helped us move our stuff at the end of the con, so thanks man! Cons are always so busy, and there’s always a shortage of time for catching up with people.
I’m positive I’ve left people out, and I’m really really sorry, and if you e-mail me I promise I’ll revise what I’ve got. We came back late, late Sunday night and were immediately back to work on Monday, and let’s just say there wasn’t a lot of sleeping and eating involved in the past weekend.
I’m trying to remember what else I was going to mention … ah! Applegeeks had a team assembled for the Webcomics Challenge, and although we lost the overall competition (Saturday was busy and we missed a few events), our team won the Halo 2 tournament and the Soul Calibur III tournament. Hawk won the Webcomics Auction, Beth repped us in the DDR competition, and a very generous and thoughtful reader was our stand-in at the Iron Webcomic Challenge (we had an interview during the time block, I think). However, Comedity took the gold! We bow to you fellas, good job! :) Here’s a picture of the Halo crew (from left to right: Manny, Josh, Shannon, and Greg),
They’re holding Bunny Bling, the official currency of ConnectiCon 2006. Big ups to Team Rockets for graciously lending us some of their young guns. ;) Here’s Josh and Shannon reppin’ for their clan,
I also got to meet some of Shannon’s friends, including Josh and Greg above, and Michael. They’re some totally awesome fookers, ya? Thanks for helping make it a badass weekend.
And finally, here’s a picture of Mookie with his Cosplay Army,
And OF COURSE we want to thank Matt, Brianna, Brian Wilson, George Rohac THE THIRD, Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe and all the Connecticon 2006 staff for putting on an awesome show. Thanks so much, and we’ll see you next year! ^__^
Possibly more to come? I don’t know. I need to get started on some other things, but check back later – there might be some changes. Can you tell this is the product of an overstretched mind? >.>
