Alright, so this convention was a good one. Before anything else, I want to give shout-outs to the cats that were present:
Paradox Lost - A pleasure, as always. I hope King Dave and the Countess Beth have returned safely to their kingdom of snow and lobsters (crabs?).
Dominic Deegan - MOOKIE WE LOVE YOU … YOUR NEW GAME IS AWESOME
Angry Zen Master - Hahaha Jamie … I’ll never forget what you drew … none of us will … you sick bastard
Staccato - I didn’t get a chance to talk to you much, so hopefully at the next convention. Lack of conversation didn’t stop us from shooting rubberbands at each other, though. :)
VGCats - Scott … Scott … why are you always drawing cocks everywhere …
Comedity - Sorry we took so damn long to draw in those sketchbooks … but there’s drawings in there now! I swear! >.>
Fragile Gravity - Barb and Chris! Barb, thank you soooo much for everything that you did for us this past weekend. We appreciate it A LOT. (Barb was guest relations for webcomics ;) )
Onezumi - You. Are. Fucking. Crazy. We love it. ;) Also, your comment about randomly shooting people with XXXXXXX is probably etched into my brain forever.
Novablade - Trish and Damien … we’ll have to hang a little more at the next con. From what I hear, Damien mopped up at Apples to Apples … and no, I won’t eat wasabi bombs …
Machall - Always good to see you guys. Hopefully we’ll have more time to talk and hang out the next time we see each other. Maybe by then I’ll have a DS and Bomberman …
Hookie Dookie Panic - Also didn’t get to talk to you guys much, but we can catch up at … Connecticon? I think.
Starcrossed Destiny - Nice to finally meet you!
Robert Aldrich - You’re a punk!!! But I’m reading your book anyway. ;)
Chisuji - Hey! Hope the con went well for you … hopefully we can catch up at the next one.
Pocky - Congrats on a well-run con! You know we love ya’. :)
Katy - HI KATY
Shannon - hey babe
George - … HOW DID YOU GET ON THIS LIST
Basically things were pretty busy and I didn’t get to talk to everyone I wanted to, but that’s okay - there’s always next con. Katsucon is one of the first convention we ever attended, and we’re always happy to be back.
What else, what else? Hawk’s birthday is this Friday the 24th, so we threw him a surprise party on Saturday night! Katy mentioned the idea, and a good one it was. (On the same note, I am the McGuyver of birthday organizers.) Afterwards …
I managed to get stuck on an elevator for thirty minutes, with a several very nice people. One of the girl’s, however, made it a point to mention how we were all going to drop 6 stories and die. That stuff pretty much only happens in the movies, kiddo. After that little ordeal, Shannon and I ran into a reader, Alex Saify, and his friend Matt (also a reader?). He’d asked me an interesting question during the panel, and it’d stuck out in my mind. They both sat down with us and bought us drinks (thanks guys!), and we had a good, interesting conversation about comics, cosplay, tattoos, and the infamous Book of Shame.
On a sidenote, someone posted this up … it’s worth a look, I think. It doesn’t apply to everyone, but … Open Letter to Congoers. The guy came by our table and was nice - his thoughts are worth a listen.
My brain is still recovering from a weekend of social interaction, so the rest of this post is just pictures. Scroll for love:
