Issue 201 will be late (maybe Friday?). I haven’t been able to draw anything yet. I had a test yesterday and I have another test today. Did I ever mention I hate college. *sighs*

Bigger version of Issue 200 sketch can be found here.

So there you have it, Issue 200…The big TWO-ZERO-ZERO! I would like to thank everyone for reading our comics and showing a lot of support, it means a lot to us. Knowing that we inspire people, make people smile, giggle or drop their pants and race to a car… it’s nice to know we’re making a difference one way or another.

About the comic….

Ananth and I talked about what should we do for the 200th comic, we both agreed to show Eve in some kind of dramatic way. I really love how some people are calling this story arc the “Dark Eve Saga”.

I have some idea where Ananth is taking the story; all I can say I’ll be pushing my drawing skills between panels even further and it will be a challenge.

Just letting everyone know, the bidding for the Eve sketch ends less than 1hour.

Since this went so well, I’ll make this a monthly event. I’ll pick a week every month and put out a sketch for you guys. Sounds good? cool.

Heheh I got this really funny email…

From: madmax101@o2.pl
Subject: Bla Bla about Your Comic
Date: June 11, 2005 8:17:25 PM EDT
To: hawk

Hi, this is a pointless mail so if your busy – skip it and press the little x in the upper-right corner.

Still here huh? Well ok, So…. I didn’t read the your comic, nor I intend to, I’m just here from boredom and, came from vgcats.com’s link in the news, and these are my first thoughts:

You guys suck for choosing the title, I don’t know if your really apple freaks, but apple n macs seriously suck ass, and are for people that choose pretty interface before functionality. I hate mac’s and all people that brag about using them and state opinions about it being better than pc’s because that’s just bullshit.

Other then that the graphics of the comic are just great, cg’ing just breathtaking. (but don’t give me that shit “yeah because I make’em on my mac”, because that’s some more bullshit, your talent is the only thing responsible for it’s look and I bet it would be even better when made on a pc).

And if you’re still here (doubt that) could you answer me one question. What’s with this writer-artist cooperation thing that some webcomics like your’s or penny-arcade’s present. I don’t understand and don’t believe that almost half of the artist that are out there are to dumb to be able to think of a decent story of their own. I think it’s the artist that is the foundation of a webcomic, but they get equal credit as the writer or what’s even more disturbing, what I saw on one forum, artist are sometimes rated lower. And that’s just crap. A webcomic would survive without a writer, hell It could take several months before anyone would notice that the story is written by a different person. But a comic WOULDN’T have a chance of surviving without an artist. I remember when PA did a joke about splitting up and Tycho posted a so called comic made in MsPaint about some dot. Everyone said “hehe that’s so funny because it uses sophisticated talk” but every one knew it sucked and all of them were just PA fanatics and were terrified of being struck by lightning if they said something negative. Why every artist can’t be independent like Scott (I know you don’t like such reference but I don’t care). Sure the scripts don’t have to be perfect or contain very sophisticated words, but every person can think of something at least decently funny, or just a decent story. And then the viewer knows that what he sees is something that a person thought of, imagined and then brought to life on paper the best way he could, and not just followed directions of someone else. The worst thing about this whole cooperation thing is when a writer creates a shitty script, then an artist must work several hours to make a comic of it from directions of a writer who thought of the script in 2 minutes. People then comment “it’s not so bad” but that is only because they appreciate the artwork, but the writer stares at the forum or whatever and says something like “yeah they kinda liked it…. I AM GOD…. now artist , go and fetch me a sandwich” (yeah I know – extremely exaggerating but you get my point).Summing up. I think artist of webcomics should be independent and think of their own ideas, or if they want someone to write the script for them, somewhere should be stated that the artist is the lead author and the writer is just a small fry. (Note: I’;m talking about webcomics like yours, penny arcades, vgcats and others, not just comics, which use so much text that there’s barely space for the comic itself, or ones like dilbert, which could survive even the authors death because of the fact you can pretty much create it by copying and pasting the pieces………or just making random inkblots on paper.)

That’s my opinion.What’s your opinion?

Best regards MadMax

Dear Mr MadMax, I DID read your whole email and I thought I would share it with the rest of the whole. Why, well because I think you’re an ass. That’s my opinion.

I agree, you don’t need a Mac to make CG art. Scott, Ian uses a PC to do art. I just happen to grow up using a Mac and I just love using them because I BELIEVE they’re decent machines.

Now by sending me that email and telling me we suck because of the title of our comic and the type of machine we use…didn’t even bother reading our comics… I don’t think we’re the one that sucks.

I don’t hate PCs, I hate PC users that act like pricks and doesn’t have an open mind.

As for the rest of your email, my response is: blah blah blah blah blah.

Good day.

Because I like the Gorillaz …

So, Issue 200 … whoa. And it came out pretty badass – props to you, Hawk.

I’ve mentioned a little of what direction the story is moving to Hawk, and I’ve been having a lot of fun planning it out. When we started Applegeeks, we collaborated on visuals and script together, from beginning to end – I did all the final writing, and Hawk did all the final drawing, but we would go back and forth with rough scripts and sketches, usually in the back of the classroom during lectures. Nowadays, we have a pretty good idea of how each of us works, especially in relation to the other, so we have more room to try different things. If one of us wants to do something too crazy, the other one reigns us in a bit – but as a general rule, Hawk and I are both pretty out of our minds – I’m sure you’ve noticed.

Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you guys for reading the comic and supporting us – we love doing Applegeeks, and hope to be doing it for a long time to come.

Been talking to Josh Mirman, of the illustrious Punks and Nerds, and the guy who got the \Disposable Parts book together. So, some news on that – the book will be sold at Mocca Art Festival 2005, which is tomorrow and Sunday in NYC. Also, for anyone interested in ordering online, you’ll be able to do so starting Mondayjust go to the preorder page. For those just tuning in, Hawk and I have a 9-page short in this anthology titled Seven. /shameless promotion

I got a question for you guys… I’m trying to find out if this shirt exist or something very similar to it: “Rebooting, please wait. Error: Can not load Universe.exe”

As you know, my iPod doesn’t work anymore. My brother decided to put linux on the ipod….didn’t work…hardware failure. So I’m thinking, I have two options: I can take my old ipod and get a 10% discount on the new one OR I can draw on it with a sharpie and sell it :P
