I’m getting emails about a bigger version of panel 1 in Issue 201. Here you go…

Some of you are making a connection between Batman and Hawk’s new suit in Issue 201. I couldn’t help myself. you all know I’m a huge Batman fan.

There are times when I wish I was him or I AM him. I’m not saying I had a tragic accident in the past. But I do feel I’m devoted to my work and trying to make a difference. Kinda sad really, I’m so devoted into my work, I don’t have room for other things or someone. I do feel like a loner most of the time.

I did see the new Batman movie, Batman Begins, last week. However, I did not write a review about the movie, which is kind of strange since I went on and on about the movie before it came out. I guess I was speechless and didn’t know what to say. I truly believe the Batman franchise is alive and well now. In my opinion this is the BEST Batman movie since the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton. Some might say the first Batman movie is still the best, well that’s your opinion. I’m saying this one is the best one so far.

Batman Begins was dark and creepy, he didn’t just stand in one place and show off his batnipples, he actually moved around in the shadows and stayed in the shadows….where he belongs. By the way, there are NO batnipples in this movie. THANK YOU. Whoever designed the costumes for Batman & Robin, if I ever meet you.. I’m going to beat the crap out of you.

I also like the fact they had the characters look like the characters from the comic. James Gordon actually looks like Gordon from the comics, instead of some fat old guy.

As for the Batmobile, I WANT ONE! The way it moved and the sound, it was just plain awesome. For those who have a problem with the way it looks. Here, shove that up your…..

I think I should stop right there, I know some of you haven’t seen it yet, so I don’t want to spoil anything for you. Just do me a favor, when you watch the movie, enjoy it. Don’t try to rip it apart and try to find mistakes. I really hate when people do that. They sit there, bitch and whine about how something doesn’t make sense. Since when did Batman or Superman comics ever made sense??

I better go or I’ll be late for work.

I really hope this doesn’t become a habit of mine, I’m going to move the comic to Monday.

I can hardly stay awake so I’m going to get some sleep. The good news is, Ananth was able to flush out 6 scripts, so basically it’s up to me to get them done….wait that’s bad news for me. Damn you Ananth!

I will make Issue 200 into a wallpaper, but not yet. I have this idea and it will be sweet…I hope. Just have some patience.

Okay I need sleep.

The Washington Post has an article about internet strips up right now - it’s cool to see webcomics getting this kind of coverage. Here’s the link:

Got a chance to see Batman Begins with Hawk! No worries, no spoilers from me. I don’t make a secret of generally not being too thrilled with the first four Batman movies, but I really liked this one. Gone is the campiness and absurd costumes, and present instead is the dark grittiness and internal conflict that makes Bruce Wayne/Batman such an interesting character. Batman, for the most part, doesn’t look like a a guy in a too-stiff costume and mask anymore - and the imagery showed special attention to what Batman does best, which is lurk in the shadows. Also, as Brian Carroll mentioned to me earlier, the movie also did a great job of breathing life into Gotham City itself. That’s as much as I’ll say: I hate it when people ruin movies for me, and saying anything more would probably ruin it for some of you!

I also picked up Flight Vol. 2 … it was one of those rare purchases I make on a whim, especially since I haven’t seen Flight Vol. 1. Of course, for the most part, the anthologies are independent of one another - I think only one of the stories is continued from the first volume into the second. So anyway, I read it, and wow! What a great range of work. I don’t think any one person is going to love every story in the book, but there are several stories for everybody. What fascinates me is the huge, amazing breadth of work, both textually and visually - even as comic artists go, they all push the envelope. Two particularly memorable ones were done by Becky Cloonan and Hope Larsen. There are happy stories, sad stories, whimsical stories, and a few terribly charming stories (my personal favorite is the Robot and the Sparrow.) I’d recommend this primarily to the people who like to read indie/small press comics … and anyone who’d like to broaden their horizons. ^_^ This book will give anyone who reads it a few new ideas on how stories can be told.
