So COLD!
It snowed overnight! Not a whole lot, but there’s snow collected on rooftops, and on top of cars along the side of the road.
Went to the Museum of Modern Art today … it was a lot smaller than I expected. It’s 6 floors, and divided up into sections by medium - painting, sculpture, design, architecture, and so on. Architecturally speaking, the building is pretty cool - there’s a good sense of open space. Oh yeah, and in the design section they had a whole bunch of top design products showcased - lots of silverware, lamps, containers, chairs, and so on. In the main room, in a glass case, on the top shelf, they had an iBook, and the middle shelf had an iPod. ^_^; Just a little factoid for you Mac lovers.
After getting back, I wandered past the grocery store and into the shadier parts of the neighborhood - there was supposed to be a movie rental place nearby, and my dad wanted to test out a DVD on his fancy new TV. Didn’t find the rental place, but did get followed by an old guy for about 3 blocks. He had his heart set on convincing me that slavery had ended only 5 years ago.
Decided to go home and queue up the movie on Netflix instead.
Tomorrow is Times Square - finally get to make a trip to that comics store. Day after tomorrow, I take the train back to DC. Trip is turning out to be a lot shorter than I expected.
Today is Dave’s birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDE! I’ll give you birthday punches at Katsucon….50 punches right? :P And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my good friend Ellen! I hope you guys have a wonderful birthday.
Okay, back to inking the comic.
So if you guys keep up with our rants at all, you’ll know that both Hawk and I are curious to see what happens with the new Batman movie: Batman Begins. It’s supposed to be a restart of the Batman series - Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne, and it’s directed by the director of Memento. Anyway, you can find some new shots of the movie here:
EDIT: Oh yeah, I saw this happen.
Worst summary of a day ever … I’ll try to be more detailed later. Exercise first, rantage later.
Was up until 4 last night, so I woke up at noon today. Plans to go to the Museum of Modern Art were dashed because I woke up so late. I spent the day getting a better hang of the subway system instead. Went to Best Buy to get my parents a TV cart, and then I found the biggest god damn Macy’s in the world. It’s got 9 floors. I bought a jacket. Nothing of real interest here … the most interesting parts were once again on the subway itself.
In a lot of NYC subway stations, you’ve got musicians and break dancers and all manner of talent. They choose a corner, and just do their thing. I spent a long time watching some break dancers in the Times Square subway station, and they were incredibly good. One of their buddies went around with a bucket soliciting donations while they did handstands and twisted and turned and hopped around, sometimes over each other. It feels daunting just to watch them.
I didn’t actually go up to Times Square while I was at the station, but I might go check it out tomorrow. There’s also supposed to be a a comics store a few blocks away, so that’s extra incentive.
Not much to say for today - I upped my exercising and spent the evening getting groceries for my parents and working on Applegeeks scripts. Well, there’s always tomorrow …
MaineToday.com has an interesting article about Julie York and Dave Lister, Dave Lister is the artist and writer of Paradox-Lost and a very good friend of mine. There’s a photo of Dave in the article, he looks like a Jesus-pirate…. arrrrrr.
In other news, I’m running Windows XP on my Mac. Oh No! I installed Virtual PC so I can test my websites under Windows’ crappy ass IE and other browsers.
