So I get this email (I got more than one)…

“Why do you and so many other apple fans I know feel the need to push your strange computer religion on others? I’m sorry the bit about burning your PC? I’m sorry more games run on linux with Cedega than run on Macs. I still remember the first time I used OSX and waited for litterally 3 minutes for IE to load. Or the time I was in computer graphics and did my whole Director presentation at home on my crap Duron with no ram PCthinking it would run beautifully on the Macs I had been foreced to listen to my professor rant and rave about. So at 5 in the morning I discoever that the Macs can’t even run it or the flash components of it at half the speed my sub 700 piece of shit hacked together desktop with made with used parts can at home. I have gotten miserable customer service from Macpeople as soon as they discover I like PCs, and god help me if Microsoft ever puts a bouncing Icon in windows or any Linux distro does, I want hose processor cycles for something important.

You like Macs that’s fine. I respect that. I’m all for people who like Macs using them, but I hate Mac elitism, I’m sick of getting distaneful looks from Mac fans and seeing links like the one that’s up now on CAD. I don’t begrudge you your desire for a pretty computer, don’t get all high and mighty on PC fans for their desire for one that actually runs they programs they like and run them efficiently.”

Ok this pisses me off, let me explain something to everybody who thinks like that. This might come a shock to you, but Tim and I are making comics. C-O-M-I-C-S. Just simple funny comics. Jokes. Funny Ha Ha shit. I have NOTHING against PC users, nothing at all. BUT, I DO have something against mindless users who can’t take a joke. If you do feel the need to bitch at me again…this is all I’m going send back….

If you haven’t yet, check out Hawk’s rant to theleft there.

Now, most of you know that all these comics we doabout Macs - they’re just jokes. We’re just beingsilly. We’re a comic strip. We’re /supposed/ to.Hawk says the exact same thing after the charmingexcerpt from the e-mail.

For the rest of you … look. For the record, IUSE A PC. You read that correctly. I’d alsolike to point out that HAWK OWNS A PC. Itsits right next to his Mac. Sure, it collects abit of dust, but read the name of the comic -someone here definitely favors one brand over theother.

“Or the time I was in computer graphics and did mywhole Director presentation at home on my crapDuron with no ram PC thinking it would runbeautifully on the Macs I had been foreced tolisten to my professor rant and rave about. That’s really waaaay outta left field, isn’t it?It sucks. I agree. I’ve had Macs lock up on meduring crucial times. PCs do it too. Probablyanything with a software interface has locked upfor someone, somewhere. But why are you tellingus? Are we supposed to feel guilty for supportinga machine and a product that personally caused youfrustration? Especially when that support comes inthe form of us writing a comic about a bunch offucking _goofballs_, one of whom happens toprefer Apple?

There’s Mac users who look down their noses at PCusers, and PC users who look down their noses atMac users. And, uh, they all suck. Hard. If weactually had a problem with Tim using PCs, well,we’d probably buy him a Mac so as to usher himinto our incredible Apple Macintosh Cult(tm). Itis here, during our meetings, where we giggle likeschoolgirls while comparing the colors of ourtrendy iPod Minis, and then get down to thebusiness of what blasphemous rumors we can beginfabricating about PC users and their computersthat can actually run games (*gasp* Did thatApplegeeks guy just admit that Macs suck forgames?! OMG!!11oneoneone).

I suppose I’d better stop before I really getgoing. If there’s still people who have a problem, seriously do as Hawk says - just refer to thatpicture which pretty much sums it all up.

We poked a little fun at Timyesterday. So Tim has poked some fun back at us!You can check it out here.

Issue 112 was based on a conversation I had with Tim this week. Tim was telling me he wouldn’t get a Mac, I told him he should. Since this was during the WWDC, I started to show him the new OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and the new 30in Flat Display. Somehow I got him to say “Maybe”, maybe he will get a mac laptop. So yeah, Tim is slowly breaking. I hope you’re reading this Tim, you WILL get a Mac. You will burn your PC and start making pretty CAD comics on a Mac. =)
