Before I teamed up with Ananth and started to work on Applegeeks, I actually had a small collection of comics that I did by myself. Issue 85 is a remake of the last comic I did, I basically wanted Ananth to redo the dialog and I wanted to redo the art.
In other news, I’ll be doing some Spring cleaning on the servers. fun!
So Hawk, Emily and I went to go see Hellboy this weekend. We picked him up a little early so we could spend some time just hanging out … we bought tickets, and then swung by Emily’s apartment to show him her living space. He spent a lot of time poking the cat, for some reason. *gives Hawk an odd look*
I’m going to give my thoughts on the movie, so stop reading if you don’t want to know (don’t worry, no spoilers):
Hellboy, on the surface, turns out to be a good vs. evil movie. In that respect, I wasn’t really thrilled about it. Secret Paranormal Division of the Government battles Wierd Nazi Cthulu Cult, is about the long and short of it. Beneath all that though, is a pretty interesting cast of characters brought to life rather convincingly. In fact, I have to say that the most boring character in the movie is the normal guy - John Meyers - who is brought in as a liason to Hellboy. Ron Perlman plays a great Hellboy - somehow, despite the layers of lacquer and makeup, he really constructs the identity of this character in your mind. There’s some nice setups to help him along - Guillermo del Toro (the director) puts Hellboy in some situations where his personality really comes out, and the result is Hellboy acting like a goofball. The Nazi ninja was pretty cool, hands down. Oh, and Abe Sapiens looked pretty amazing - the makeup was done really well - but I just wish he didn’t talk. Thank god he only had a few lines.
I was looking at the Post this morning, and they gave Hellboy a positive review. It’s a fun movie, although I enjoyed the scenes where Hellboy was acting like an idiot more than the movie’s endgame.
Ish 84 was done by me …
I decided to try to help out and give Hawk alittle break from the art duties … keep in mindthat I’m not the genius artist he is. ^_^;; Still, hope you like it!
