Slashdot has a very interesting post about a new substance called Sapphire. Sapphire is essentially a liquid that doesn’t get things wet. On Good Morning America, a laptop, a TV, and a book were all dunked in a fishtank full of the liquid - and they came out undamaged. Here’s the catch - they were all on at the time.

The Slashdot Article is here. It links to a slideshow of Sapphire at work. Here’s some links to images:

This is the TV submerged.
The TV being pushed under.
The TV being pulled out.
This thing BLOWS MY MIND.

Sapphire is also going to be used for sprinkler systems (none of your electronics will be ruined by water!). Slashdot also cleverly points out: “By the same token of practicality, regular readers of Slashdot probably have something else in mind: total-immersion watercooling. Just think of the possibilities!”

I’m actually in class ATM, so that’s all for now.

Update: 7:20PM

I finally got the box of bandanas and will send them out this Friday.

—————————————————–

Here’s the update on the bandanas, I was suppose to get a box of AG bandanas yesterday..but due to the crappy weather we’re having lately I didn’t get it. According to UPS, it should be at my house today. The plan is to start mailing the bandanas this Friday.

I recieved an email asking if it was possible to show the sketch version of one of the comics. Sure.

Let me start off by saying I’m starting to understand what Fred and other webcomics are going through…and Fred told me this is just the beginning.

Who would thought something simple as Issue 87 would cause so much conversation, through email, irc, and the forum. Hell, I was giving myself a break and wasn’t even thinking about doing any fancy art like Issue 86. I thought a simple joke deserved a simple layout and art. I thought those who understood the joke would giggle and that would be it. I was wrong, instead I got non stop whining about how I drew Gina this time. Let me clear that up, not all comments were whining, a lot of readers did like the Gina art.

As I mentioned before, few peple pointed out Gina’s eye color being different in Issue 86 and Issue 87. I already admitted it was a mistake. I’m so use to coloring Jayce and Alice’s blue eyes (my character rarely shows his eyes), I wasn’t thinking when I was coloring Gina’s eyes in Issue 86. So there goes that.

Along with the comments about the eyes, I receieved commens about her breasts, about how they were a little too big and how one side was bigger than the other, etc. First off, she’s NOT real, she’s just a drawing on your screen. It’s not like her breasts will pop out of your monitor and slap you in the face. Gina is just a comic character that I’m still learning on how to draw. I’m not a perfect artist and never said I was. I didn’t go to any art school to learn how to draw the human body. Yes, all this time I have been teaching myself how to draw. Secondly, if you want to complain about the body, why not complain why sometime the character doesn’t have a nose, or why do they have big eyes as well. But you know what, I’m going to sorry anyways. I’m sorry if I offended anyone with Gina’s large uneven breasts. That is all.

Update: 12:45 PM

A few people pointed out a coloring mistake I made. In issue 86, Gina’s eyes are blue, in issue 87 her eyes are brown (true color). Yes I made a mistake, we all do. No need to keep on pointing that out to me over and over…it’s going to get on my nerves.

If you don’t understand Issue 87, then I suggest that you check out the iPod ads over at the Apple site.

Also, the first batch of bandanas should be in by tomorrow. So, I’ll be mailing them by the end of week. I will send out an email when I do, thank you for your patience.

I spent most of the weekend doing homework, studying for a test, and putting together variousprojects. Since I don’t have anything new to show,I thought I’d post something I did for a class Ihad last year.

This was done by hand - no filters or raising thecontrast of a photograph. I used a reference, though. The man in the picture is mygrandfather.
