I got a chance to try out Crystal Chronicles this weekend, for about an hour …

Is it just me, or does it draw heavily on FFIX? From what I’ve heard, FFIX is one of the least played titles of the series. I played it myself, but I wasn’t too enthused with it. As is often the case with Square, it was a solid game, but it didn’t really do anything to make it stick out in my mind. I liked Freya, though - cool character.

I can’t say that revisiting old worlds bothers me, though … what with the impending FF7-2: Advent Children (a continuation of the story started in FF7) and FFXII, in which we revisit Ivalice (the world where FF: Tactics and FF: Tactics Advance takes). There was also FFX-2 … I don’t know what to say about that, since I haven’t played it, but I’m not sure I will. “Pop singer” class? *facepalms* Nono, I’ll play it. Just … GOD, “pop singer”? In any event, revisiting old stories isn’t so bad, since they’ve been hard-up for a new basic plot for a while now (i.e. group of ragtag heroes band together to battle world-threatening evil). That, and the worlds they’ve already made seem as though they’ve got plenty of material for spinoff games to draw on.

I may try to get Emily to play CC with me, although we’ll have to borrow a Gamecube, two GBAs, the link cables … the game … uh … well, basically everything! So, uh, we probably won’t play it … for a long time. But mark my words … one day!

ONE DAY!

Yeah, whatever … back to work for me. Later! ^_^
